“When this card appears the issue at hand is one of prosperity, growth, and abundance. The Greenman image symbolizes these, as well as the tenacity of life. This is a card of survival and assured renewal. Look to the ways of Nature as your teacher, and to the spirit of Nature for encouragement and motivation.”
“The Greenman is the personified Spirit of Nature. He is the renewer of life, abundance, and prosperity. As Lord of the Plant Kingdom he represents richness and bounty. When our ancestors turned to agriculture the Greenman became a powerful symbol of the Spirit of the Land. In this card the Greenman is depicted moving through the deep wooded places. Here is the primal nature of the untamed woodlands, which is where his essence first arose. As he passes among the trees or the tall wheat fields, the blessings of the Greenman ensure the fullness of a harvest to come.”
“You wake up in the woods, as if from a dream. You sit up, and standing before you is the Greenman of the Forest. He is powerful and ancient. He tells you that he is the untamed spirit of Nature. He is the tenacity of life. In your mind you suddenly recall every rocky crevice that sprouted a plant, and every root that lifted a wall. Visions of man made structures now covered and hidden in the jungles flash through your mind. In the end it is the Greenman who will survive the passage of time. You see the Greenman standing before you as he changes form in the passing of seasons, for he is seed and sprout, bud and leaf, flower and fruit. He is the tender sprout of spring, the ripened fruit of summer, the dropping leaves of fall, and barren branches of winter. In this you realize that he is never absent, but is always present in the never-ending cycle of birth, life, death, and renewal.”
