“When this card appears, it signifies that other aspects, levels, or elements are at play. The card advises us to look back to the beginning, access the present, and contemplate the future. The matter is not one thing by itself. Different aspects will show themselves, and each will require discernment. It is time for complexity, depth, and expansion.”
“Manifestation requires three individual points or elements, which are time, space, and energy. This is called the triangle of manifestation. In a religious or spiritual view of Goddess, from whom all things issue forth, is a triple goddess. In modern times she is called the Maiden, Mother, and Crone. One ancient example of the Triformis concept appears in the Greek view of the Fates as three woman who weave the lives of mortal kind. Another example is the goddess Hecate, whom ancient writers such as Lucan refer to as a goddess with three aspects (Hecate, Diana, Persephone/Proserpina).”
“The card depicts the Great Goddess manifesting from within the night sky. She appears as a single being, with three aspects appearing as individual faces. On the left is the Maiden, in the center is the Mother, and to the right is the Crone. The Goddess wears a lunar circlet, which links three natures into one entity. A serpent appears wrapped around her arm, which represents her Underworld nature. A key hangs from the other arm, symbolizing her role as the gatekeeper and revealer of the hidden mysteries.”
THE SHADOW’s EDGE
“The Triformis card reveals the mystical nature of the number three. It addresses triple aspects that emanate from a core principle, a pattern established by nature in the cycles of human life: birth, life, and death. These are the three great mysteries from which all other mysteries originate.”
